description

An extensive review of the Drug and Alcohol system in Hertfordshire against the evidence base of interventions that ought to be available and the Drug and Alcohol needs assessment 2015 has identified the need for a structured abstinence based programme to be available to the county of Hertfordshire. The programme will complement existing core provision of adult drug and alcohol Services currently being delivered whilst offering an alternative approach to recovery that responds to people’s differing recovery needs. The programme will need to be delivered with a clear understanding of what works for those who are abstinent or whose goal is abstinence, using the 12 step principles of being peer led and based on the core values of the development of a therapeutic community.
