description
This project will result in a new build residential respite facility on the grounds at the Moor Lane Centre site, Chessington to deliver the following benefits: • Provide a development of a high architectural quality that responds to the site's relationship with the existing Moor Lane Centre and immediate neighbours to the north and west of the site boundary • Provide living areas that cater to the needs of the students. 25% of the rooms will be fully wheelchair compliant and/or have ensuite bathrooms with hoist facilities • Provide a safe and secure environment for students and their parents that aims to be homely and not 'institutionalised', with a strong social emphasis. • Provide a response that retains and utilises the majority of the existing trees, a strong landscape feature that enhances the site. Additional planting to be integrated wherever possible. • Provide a dedicated drop-off parking area for the Respite facility The proposed scheme provides accommodation for 8 students and 1 member of staff in a single storey courtyard building arranged in a 2 wing, L-shaped block with bathrooms and living space.
