description
The CASSANDRA Suite of tools (consisting of desktop CASSANDRA and eCASSANDRA) is the Authority's preferred tool for hazard log managment. It is required to provide the Authority with assurance that the Department identifies and manages equipment hazards which, if not controlled could cause accidents. All credible risks/hazards that have been identified must be demonstrably "as low as reasonably practible" (ALARP), which is the purpose of both Cassandra and eCassandra. It also provides critical evidence to support equipment safety cases and environmental impact assessments. Cassandra is deployed on individual workstations and eCassandra is currently hosted on a server with an industry-approved gateway to the RLI. ECassandra data contains a significant number of MOD's equipment hazard logs. This data includes both current and archived hazard logs and must be maintained and acessable in accordance with safety legislation. There is a need to maintain both the desk top and server based versions as not all users in Industry and MOD will have access to the MOD RLI. There will also be a requirement to exchange data files (hazard logs etc.) between the two forms of the tool. There is a requirement to provide appropriate database server hosting for the current eCassandra variant of the eCassandra Suite Hazard Log Managment Tool providing access to all authorised users via the RLI network. Also required is a support desk and single point of contact for technical queries, fault resolution, bug fixes, urgent software patches for Cassandra variants. A development capability for enhancements is required, as is attendance at meetings, training workshops and seminars.
