description

he purpose of this project is to better understand the environmental risk posed by the use of

Cruiser SB following emergency authorisation.

The pesticide product Cruiser SB, which contains a banned neonicotinoid pesticide, was approved

for emergency use on sugar beet in 2022. As part of this emergency approval, a set of conditions

were attached, one of which was the monitoring of a selection of treated fields to ensure restrictions

on use were being adhered to and to assess the environmental risk resulting from its use. Further

monitoring of these sites is recommended to assess how quickly these pesticides degrade in the

environment and the continued risk they pose over time, and to confirm no continued residue build up or transfer into field margins can be detected over a longer period.

This project was awarded by DEFRA.
