description
We are seeking a single design team or consortium as lead consultants to contract and work with, to act as a design and build contractor that will deliver a scheme right through to handover. The team will need to have experience of working on heritage projects, place making and storytelling, and be as inspired by this iconic site as we are. We are looking for a creative approach in line with the brand values of Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings:
- Pioneering: Embracing the bold to continue the legacy and create memorable experiences
- Innovative: Cultivating an environment which continues the tradition of thought leadership
- Adaptive: Producing flexible and creative new uses for a sustainable future
- Collaborative: Bringing communities and ideas together to generate positive impact
We are looking for creative innovators who can help us reveal and celebrate 300 years of heritage and restore local pride in this unsung icon. Skills, experience and expertise will be required including, but not exclusively, design, interpretation schemes, visitor experience, project management, procurement, contract management, business planning, interactives, AV /digital engagement, retail design and operation, copywriting and research. We welcome innovative approaches to creating a visitor experience that will be inspiring and encourage local residents to reclaim their neighbour, and visitors from far and wide to explore this industrial hero.
This is an ambitious project and we recognise that a single organisation is unlikely to contain all the necessary expertise for this. We therefore anticipate bids from consortia or from a team collaborating with specialist sub-contractors. We envisage that elements of the scheme may be commissioned from other specialist designers. Any organisation working with subcontractors will be expected to fully explain their approach to managing this structure and mitigating any associated risks.
