9871b - Procurement of works; detailed design, fabrication and fixing of steelwork

Norwich City Council has been successful in their application for strategic Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding to undertake works to the Wensum Riverside Walk to improve accessibility and wayfinding.

CIL is a levy administered by the planning system to ensure local authorities can enhance and deliver new infrastructure to cater for new development and the associated increase in population / users of the infrastructure.

Norwich City Council Design, Conservation and Landscape team have prepared the information for this scheme and Norwich City Council Procurement Team will manage the tender exercises on their behalf. Once a contractor is appointed, the Conservation and Landscape team will contract manage works on site.

This invitation to tender is for specialist steelwork required as part of a larger body of works. The appointed steelwork contractor will be a specialist nominated subcontractor to the main works contractor. A separate tender exercise for the main works is currently underway.

Norwich City Council Design, Conservation and Landscape team require a steelwork contractor to;

• oAdvise and liaise with the design team to fix the final design,
• oTake detailed site measurements,
• oFabricate the required stainless and galvanised steel products,
• oFix more complex steel elements on site as per specification and provide fixing instructions to the main contractor for other steel items.
