description

Raincliffe Woods Community Enterprise (RCWE) is a Community Interest Company who are taking a long lease from Scarborough Borough Council for the woodland comprising Forge Valley, Raincliffe Wood and Row Brow Wood.

A successful Expression of Interest application has been made by RWCE to the Rural Development Agency for funding to replace an 18 year old 2.3 km wooden boardwalk, construct a new footbridge on to the boardwalk and a new car park located in Forge Valley National Nature Reserve. Funding for the first stage (section one) of the project, to obtain statutory permissions, prepare a design and procure a contractor has been secured, and the information generated during the first stage will be used to submit an application for funding for the second construction stage (section two).

A consultant is now required to :

  • prepare and submit applications for statutory consents and permits.
  • prepare a Technical Design (RIBA Stage 4) for the construction of a new boardwalk, footbridge and car park.
  • procurement of a main contractor to construct the works.
  • project management and supervision of the construction works and defects period.
  • undertake the role of Principal Designer under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

The employer for the section one services will be Scarborough Borough Council. If the funding application for the second stage is successful the contract for section two services will be novated from Scarborough Borough Council to Raincliffe Woods Community Enterprise

The employer is only seeking applications from organisations, partnerships or consortia who can deliver all aspects of the project for which one single 'turnkey' contract will be awarded. Applications are not being sought for individual elements of the project such as project management only or design only.
