description
CPI is part of the High value Manufacturing Catapult – a network of research and technology Organisations in the UK whose role is to assist companies to accelerate and de-risk the introduction of new products and technologies. CPI is proposing to build a new National Centre for Healthcare Photonics at NETPark. The aim of the new centre will be to create jobs and increase the amount of economic activity in the North East of England and nationally. Healthcare Photonics is about the use of light as a key enabling technology in Therapies, Imaging and Diagnostics for healthcare. The project is being part funded by the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (NELEP) with money from the Local growth Fund. The NELEP have approved the grant funding for Phase 1 of this project, which is to design, plan and cost the building infrastructure in the project to RIBA Stage 3 (ready for Tender to build). Phase 1 is expected to last for approximately 9 months. If, successful, Phase 1 is expected to lead to the submission of a full business case and approval, by the NELEP, of a provisionally allocated amount of £10million of grant funding for the remainder of the project. The whole project duration is expected to be 5 years.
We require a project manager to serve for an initial 9 month period, starting immediately, to carry out project management as part of Phase 1 of CPIs National Centre for Healthcare Photonics. The project has been funded through the Local Growth Fund from the North East Local Enterprise Partnership. The appointed person will work within a project team comprising of; project lead, members of the project board and technical champions with specific expertise to contribute.
If the project progresses to full design and build, CPI may decide to retain the project manager throughout the entire project and as such we reserve the right to modify this contract to cover project management services beyond the initial 9 months and throughout the design and build phase up to completion of the project.
