-To provide tech specialist in market to unlock opportunities with key Japanese companies for both trade and investment & to focus on regional tech start up clusters in Japan. To strengthen commercial links between Japan and the UK to benefit trade, investment and research links between the two countries in the digital sphere.
-To support and promote research opportunities for Japanese technology companies to invest in research in the UK, collaborating with leading UK universities or institutions.
-To generate clear and specific opportunities for investment in the UK with Japanese companies focussed on the AI, fintech, quantum or digital fields, and set out account plans to support their investment.
-To have 40 days of specialist time to engage at a senior level both with new company targets to generate investment opportunities and to engage with large Japanese companies to problem solve and generate new trade opportunities (dragons den/shark tank style).
-To analyse opportunities for Japanese tech companies to make more financial investments into UK start-ups, medium-sized companies, or the UK patient capital fund, and to set out recommendations for how the Embassy team can best promote opportunities in this area.
-To speak key events to promote UK trade and investment opportunities in the technology sphere for example to promote fintech during fintech week in w.c. 2 September 2019.
-To focus on identifying new regional areas of fast growth tech opportunity both in Japan.
