Course Content:
Planning for First Aid emergencies involving babies and children
Dealing with emergencies involving babies and children
Resuscitating babies and children
Recognising and responding appropriately to:
- Anaphylactic shock
- Electric shock
- Bleeding
- Poisoning
- The emergency needs of babies and children with chronic medical conditions including: epilepsy, asthma, sickle cell, diabetes, meningitis and other serious sudden illnesses
Responding appropriately to:
- Burns and scalds
- Choking
- Suspected fractures
- Head, neck and back injuries
- Foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses
- Eye injuries in babies and children
- Bites and stings
- Febrile convulsions
Responding appropriately to the effects of extreme heat and cold
