description

As part of EU Exit contingency planning, the Department is considering options to secure additional cross-Channel rail freight services to transport critical goods, such as medical supplies, as well as alleviating potential pressures on the short Straits to meet government's wider objectives to enable goods to continue to be moved seamlessly between the UK and the EU in a No Deal scenario, if there is congestion, delays and disruption at borders. The technical adviser will provide DfT with technical expertise on rail freight operations and assurance on deliverability.
