description

The proposed scheme involves widening the existing carriageway into the westbound nearside verge to accommodate a new 3.0m wide lane between Whittington Road and Arle Court Roundabout on the A40. The existing embankment will be re-engineered and re-profiled to form a 2.0m wide verge and will incorporate a new low level gabion wall. The existing footpath / cycleway at the toe of the embankment will be re-aligned and upgraded. Whittington Road traffic signals will be upgraded. The scheme will re-align the existing islands at the A40/Whittington Road junction, linking existing shared-use facilities by creating a safe location for cyclists and pedestrians to cross the road. Landscaping works will include the replacement of trees removed to facilitate the remodelling of the embankment. Replacement trees will be semi mature species. Tender period: 22nd Jan to 26th Feb 2018 Anticipated Works Start Date: 2nd April 2018 Completion: 28th July 2018 Overall Duration: 16 weeks The proposed procurement route will be a single stage (sub-OJEU Open Procedure) using the NEC3 ECC form of Contract, Option A Priced Contract with Activity Schedule.
