description
This PIN is to inform the supply chain that Sellafield Ltd is currently considering the challenge of developing standardised robotics control architecture which in the future may be used to operate all of Sellafield's robots.
Sellafield Ltd's technology study will be conducted through the Game Changers programme. The technical study will explore the technical feasibility and potential benefits offered by introducing standardised robotics control architecture across the Sellafield site.
A range of robots of varying size, complexity and manufacture are used on the Sellafield site in a wide variety of applications.
A technology study will be initiated through a Challenge Statement on Game Changers. The Challenge Statement will be published on the Game Changers website www.gamechangers.technology during August 2020. This document will provide a detailed overview of the challenge and Sellafield's technical requirements. A webinar will also be held during August where Sellafield will further describe the challenge. Details of the webinar will be shared on the Game Changers website. Interested technology providers should complete and submit a Game Changers application via the Game Changers website to take part in a technology demonstration event which will be held in October 2020 (date TBC). The challenge is open to any organisation who feel they can meet the technical requirements. The closing date for applications will be end of August.
Interested organisations should note that the issue of this PIN may not result in a full procurement exercise being conducted. The outcome of the Game Changers Challenge will determine whether a full procurement exercise will follow. We would therefore encourage any organisation which has the capability, knowledge and experience to operate in the field of robotics to respond to this PIN and visit the Game Changers website for further information on the upcoming Game Changers Challenge.
In the event that Sellafield Ltd progresses to a future procurement opportunity for the implementation of standardised robotics control architecture, the learning gathered from the Game Changers technology study may be shared with all potential suppliers, noting that commercially sensitive information will not be included.
Additional information: Interested parties should visit the Game Changers website referenced in the main body of this PIN. You can also view the information relating to this PIN on the CTM portal (https://sharedsystems.eu-supply.com) under Ref: 12431.
