The Production of the Sandwell Health and Wellbeing Board Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2018

Using the guidance provided in the information pack for Local Authorities , Sandwell Council seek to employ a suitable organisation to develop and publish their revised pharmaceutical needs assessment.

A local pharmaceutical needs assessment (PNA) is a comprehensive assessment of the current and future pharmaceutical needs of the local population for community pharmacy, dispensing and appliance contractors and (where relevant) doctors' services and should identify where there are gaps in provision.

The NHS (Pharmaceutical and Local Pharmaceutical Services) Regulations 2013, effective from 1 April 2013, now require each health and wellbeing board (HWB) to:

 Make a revised assessment as soon as is reasonably practicable after identifying changes to the need for pharmaceutical services which are significant and

 Publish a new PNA no later than 1 April 2018.
