description

This request is for a Krumdiek tissue slicer system, which allows the preparation of precisely cut sections for the use in ex vivo organ and tissue culture. This equipment will allow the preparation of liver, lung and brain tissue slices to be cultured ex vivo and challenged with various virus of interest, including Hepatitis E virus or Influenza, to study pathogenesis of infection and role of antiviral and other intervention strategies. The use of ex vivo organ cultures will reduce the number of experimental animal used by the organization and is in line with the 3Rs strategy and will provide added value to currently ongoing projects and future work.
