description

HLPs Prevention Programme is aiming to fundamentally shift focus towards health and wellbeing rather than disease management. We want it to be easier to make healthy choices and ensure the environments where Londoners spend their time encourage healthy behaviours.

Improving workplace health is one of 4 workstreams in the Prevention Programme. Other work includes:

Encouraging NHS organisations to sign up with the London Healthy Workplace Charter
Communities of Practice - a network with common problems or interests who explore ways of working, identify common solutions, and share good practice and ideas
Healthy Living Week - a series of activities and events to encourage staff to consider their health and wellbeing
HealthWorks - a digital staff engagement platform for General Practice

This spec details the development of a health and wellbeing training programme for ambassadors. Typically this role delivers healthy conversations, increases referrals to other services and supports positive behaviour change.

The training, run over 2 sessions of around 3-4 hours, should encompass modules on:

Healthy eating
Physical activity
Smoking cessation
Good mental health (e.g. stress management)
General wellbeing
Leadership, engagement and communication

The content of these modules should be grounded in recognised, evidence-based research and study and delivered in small group sessions. The training should also comply with the 'Making Every Contact Count' approach.

The training will run between March/April 2017 and June/July 2017 and will be evaluated before, during, after and at agreed points thereafter. This will be done to assess the practicality and impact of the training, as well as lessons learnt.
