description
The University has been awarded a grant from The Medical Research Council (MRC) for the purchase of equipment to facilitate research whole genome sequencing and expression studies from single cells and high through-put single cell proteomics. The equipment will be used by internationally recognised researchers to study rare mitochondrial, neuromuscular and musculoskeletal diseases, rare childhood cancers, rare immune deficiencies and novel cell therapies. The tender consists of three lots detailed below: Lot 1: High Dimensional Cytometry System The proposed system will be used within the Newcastle University Single Cell Functional Genomic Unit (NUSCU), a Faculty- wide facility based within the FMS and for collaborative work between the Flow Cytometry Core Facility (FCCF) and the Next Generation Sequencing Facility (NGSF). The system will be used to facilitate the high-dimensional (30 parameters) measurements of extracellular and intracellular proteins on and within single cells using monoclonal antibody technology in a high-throughput manner. Lot 2: Microfluidic device for the partitioning and parallel processing of single cells for genomic and expression analysis applications and a system enabling single cell genotyping and gene expression analysis The proposed microfluidic device will be used within the NUSCU. The device will be used to process single cell samples for a range of downstream analysis applications including targeted gene expression, next-generation DNA sequencing and whole transcriptome. The system will be used within NUSCU. The system will be used for high-throughput single cell genotyping and gene expression analysis.
