description

Ten PACE-compliant interview recording machines, one for each local authority housing standards team. These machines record audio and video of interviews with landlords and tenants in cases where the landlord has been accused of breaking housing standards regulations in a manner compliant with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.

This allows housing standards teams to collect evidence to use in civil penalty proceedings against landlords. Many of the local authorities have PACE compliant audio recorders, however most are at end of life, with some still using tapes to record the audio. These new interview recording machines are fully digital and have automatic transcription embedded (another stipulation of the PACE Act) so will speed up the process of evidence gathering and replace end-of-life equipment
