Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are progressing with a redevelopment programme at both Luton and Dunstable University and Bedford Hospitals, with several major projects at various stages of progression. As part of the site redevelopments, it is the Trust's intent to provide a common security system across the two

sites, with the existing systems replaced in a phased manner.

Package 1 (this package) covers Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, with Package 2 covering BedfordHospital.This specification forms Volume 1 of the Employer's Requirement documents, identifying the electrical engineering services system objectives for Package 1 only, although the system shall be capable of the latter incorporation and addition of Package 2.

The electrical engineering services suite of documents have been written based on the works being carried out by the specialist security system provider (both design and installation) who will be deemed the Contractor.

The Contractor shall read this specification in conjunction with Volumes (2 and 3), materials and

workmanship and technical preliminaries respectively, plus the design intent drawings listed within Section A11 of Volume 3.Non-intrusive surveys of the existing access control and CCTV security systems at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital were carried out in February 2021, with drawings and schedules provided to assist the Contractors understanding of quantities and locations of installed equipment within the retained estate. These surveys did not cover the review of any survey's within ceiling voids, equipment condition or functionality. The Contractor shall be responsible for carrying out all necessary intrusive surveys and developing the design for both the access control and CCTV systems. Due allowance for undertaking these shall be included within the tender return.

Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
