The Citybike scheme which was launched in May 2014, and we now have the largest cycle hire scheme outside of London with 1000 bikes and 160 docking stations located across the whole of the City to meet demands from residents, visitors, students and business alike (https://www.citybikeliverpool.co.uk/map-of-stations.html). The scheme has been well used since its launch, with over 115,000 rentals.

The cycles are very visible within the urban environment, located in some prime advertising locations, particularly in the City Centre itself. We are continuously looking to develop and expand the scheme including bids to increase the number of bikes and stations across Liverpool and potentially the wider City Region. Joint marketing activities have also been established which includes links to other forms of transport including Citycar and Mersey ferries

With a population of just under half a million, which is supplemented by a further 54,000 students across 3 universities, the target audience is already quite substantial without taking in to account the number of visitors we have to the City year on year and number major events which take place.

With an enhanced major international sporting events programme it is not difficult to see why last year alone there were 58.7m visitors to the wider City Region, and Liverpool was the 6th most popular destination for international visitors with 562,000 staying visits.

This offer is further strengthened by the many major cruise ships now docking at our expanding cruise liner terminal, bringing with it many tourists from all over the world.

Citybikes reach is continuing to grow, the social media reach alone is calculated to 5, with over 650,000 contactable via various database. Citybikes website has had over 350,000 hits. However, this substantially increased when major events such as the ?Giants? and the Liverpool Music Festival take place in the City, where the reach is then calculated to be around 38.5m.

Our Vision is that Liverpool will be the fastest growing city for cycling where cycling is popular mainstream method of travel and physical activity and its cycle routes will be safe, convenient, accessible, comfortable and attractive for all users. Liverpool as a City wishes to partner with a brand that will support our step change to become the most active core city in England by 2021. We are looking for a brand that can support us with this.
