ESPH SB Elizabeth Court Demolition & New Build Council Housing (ESPH161)

Wealden District Council is seeking tenders from suitably qualified and experienced Contractors, to act as Principle Contractor in the design and construction of new affordable housing, demolition, external works and drainage at the former Elizabeth Court, St Mary’s Avenue, Hailsham.

The Elizabeth Court site consists of an old block of 32 flats for older people. The current building is no longer fit for purpose and does not meet the aspirations of older people.

The Council has appointed architects to planning submission stage only. The Council received planning approval in August 2016 to replace the existing building with 17 homes to rent, 5 two bedroom houses and 12 one bedroom apartments, to households who are on the Council’s Housing Register for accommodation.

The completed homes will be part of the Council’s rented stock. The homes therefore need to be good quality and low maintenance.
