Barking and Dagenham Council wishes to appoint an established Leisure Operator to manage, operate and maintain its leisure centres for a period of 10 years with an option to extend for 5 years.

The Council requires the Operator to deliver an efficient and effective leisure service and which increases the number of people participating in sport and physical activities within Barking and Dagenham in order to promote better health and well-being.

The Operator is expected to take a flexible and innovative approach to the provision of the Services in order to increase participation.

The Council has made available the Specified Facilities to enable the Operator to deliver the Services. In addition, the Operator may develop new Services and utilise other venues in order to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Improve the quality of service provision
  • Increase usage of the Facilities and participation by LBBD residents
  • Promote better health and well-being amongst LBBD residents

This contract shall be for an initial period of 10 years (120 months) with the option to extend by a further 5 years (60 months) to make a total potential contract period of 15 years (180 months).
