description
We are looking for one or more suitably experienced contractors with expert knowledge of human rights, to carry out two important pieces of research into measures taken to enhance the domestic status UN treaty rights. These projects will provide a strong evidence base on 'what works', to ensure that the Equality and Human Rights Commission's future work on treaty enhancement is as strategic and effective as possible.
This opportunity consists of two separate research projects. Qualified parties are welcome to bid to carry out either or both.
Lot 1 will examine the effectiveness of the different models used (both in the UK and in other countries) to enhance the status of UN treaty rights in domestic systems, identify opportunities for enhancing the status of treaties and treaty rights in the UK, and establish best practice and lessons applicable in the context of the non-devolved UK framework.
Lot 2 will assess the impact of embedding the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in Welsh legislation, in order to ensure the effectiveness of future efforts in Wales to pursue a similar approach on other treaties, in particular the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
