description
Hazel Trees is a combined services centre dedicated to supporting children, young people and young adults who have disabilities or additional needs together with their families. Social care, health (NHS) and education services are co-located within the building with the aim of improving the assessment and diagnosis process and also reducing the number of visits families have historically had to make to various facilities. Hazel Trees has been in operation since Phase 1 works were completed approximately two years ago (conversion from a former special school). Phase 1 works created a functional, yet partly completed building and the aim is now to complete the building works (Phase 2) and to fully implement the service vision where families with children and young adults with disabilities and additional needs can go to get the best help and support they need.
Phase 2 works include:
| • | Completing the staff car park (extension to existing car park, new surfacing, lighting and markings) |
| • | Refurbishment of the former school hall with the creation of additional meeting rooms |
| • | Remodelling the old school kitchen, new storage for the hall and the creation of staff showering / changing facilities |
| • | Updating windows in the building where needed |
| • | New flooring & lighting in existing circulation areas |
| • | The creation of a new corridor access to the new meetings rooms |
| • | Remodelling public toilets in the reception area |
| • | Roof repairs |
| • | Demolishing the existing wooden building which houses the old school pool in order to create a fit for purpose brick building. This will provide much needed storage and meeting room space. The tender allows for two options: |
Option 1 is a two-storey structure which would add the required storage and meeting room capacity. This is the clients preferred option to meet the service needs (subject to affordability).
Option 2 is a single storey structure with reduced capacity of storage and meeting room space. This is a minimum workable solution which will be considered if Option 1 is unaffordable. Submissions must be completed for BOTH options. The estimated budget range is £1m - £1.5m
