Bt1552 Personal Assistants liability Insurance & employment Services

The successful service needs to provide fully comprehensive Employers Liability Insurance to those employing their own Personal Assistant. As stated above the employers are vulnerable Service Users and or their representative. As well as the need for comprehensive Employers Liability insurance, the requirement is also for Employment Support, cover for personal possessions, Public Liability and Legal expenses for the Employer.

Employers (service users) will need to be able to access help, advice and support through a range of mediums; e.g. website and phone line. Any communications from the provider to their customers will need to be in line with the accessibility standards and requirements.

The Local Authority will require assurances that effective insurance policies are in place for every employer and that this information has been communicated effectively to both the individual and the council.

All policies will be funded on an annual basis, directly by the local authority, on behalf of the employer (service user).

The successful Provider will need to mobilise quickly in order to minimise any disruption to Employers current insurance provision. They will also need to work effectively with the incumbent to ensure a smooth transition.
