Coronial Mortuary and Post-Mortem Services

Lincolnshire County Council in liaison with HM Senior Coroners intend to arrange contracts for Mortuary and Post Mortem services.

In summary the following services/facilities will be required:

•for the receipt and storage of bodies under the jurisdiction of HM Senior Coroner;

•facilities to perform a post mortem;

•to allow Pathologists to undertake post mortem/autopsies;

•to allow Forensic Pathologists to undertake post mortem/autopsies in cases where criminal charges may arise;

•for the identification and viewing of bodies by relatives and friends, taking into account their emotional and cultural needs; •for 24/7 access and cover required;

•maintenance of adequate contact between HM Senior Coroners office and staff;

•to provide suitably qualified Pathologist and/or support staff to conduct post mortems. All Pathologists to be approved by HM Senior Coroner; •post mortem reports to HM Senior Coroner, and

•monthly statistics and performance indicators to the Council.
