To deliver:-

An employer-led targeted cladding / fenestration opportunity for 20 unemployed residents of the target boroughs to enable brokering onto Nine Elms Vauxhall sites with relevant sub-contractors where significant cladding / fenestration activity. This will conform / show how it can address the requirements set out in the ‘Integrated pre-employment & pre-vocational training’ section of the NEV construction Specifications Overview and responding to the findings of the ‘Lessons learned from the Pilots.’ (Attached).

The proposal should demonstrate clearly how it is employer led and meets industry-demand requirements in its lesson plan design and demonstrate how it can achieve success in placing trainees into entry roles in industry through its links, track record, and through continual improvement and innovation.

The project needs to demonstrate through its methodology how it will address the preparation, installation and quality management of all stages of the cladding and fenestration process. Trainees will be required to demonstrate the attributes required to work safely and competently in a site based environment in addition to completing all elements of pre-vocational qualification.

The provider should be able to deliver the L1 in fenestration as a preliminary to getting onsite experience in working with manufacturers products. This may involve time with manufacturers to understand the systems employed.

As the industry uses gangs to deliver its work it is recommended that the individuals are supported to work together as a team, and also to be supported with information on how to set up as a self-employed operative.

Initial pre-employment training delivered by the College should include:-

The following was identified as a minimum for the cohort to have as a starting point:-

  1. CSCS card
  2. Manual handling
  3. Working at height

The below are an advantage but would be required at some point:-

  1. PASMA (Scaffold)
  2. Leading edge training
  3. Harness training
  4. Abrasive wheels
  5. IPAF
