Q079 - Essa Academy Changing Room, Classroom Extension and Theatre Alteration - Phase 2

Essa Academy ("the School") is prepared to receive tenders for Changing Room, Classroom Extension and Theatre Alteration - Phase 2 - Lever Edge Lane, Bolton, BL3 3HH which will be subject to the information, specification and tender package enclosed.

Brief Description of the Work:

ESSA Academy unit was built in 2011. The all-inclusive school building caters for year 6 and above pupils. The school is laid out over several floors including a central courtyard and adjacent central covered unheated space. The school contains all facilities as expected to be found including a gymnasium/sports hall, science labs, general classrooms, a library, canteen and kitchen facilities, entrance foyer, 3D theatre and general administrative areas. A feature ETFE roof is provided above the central courtyard space.

This project enables the school to facilitate an increase in pupil numbers.

The project to which this document relates consists of an extension and internal alterations. The main elements of the works are summarised as follows:

1. Creation of new two storey extension.
2. Internal alterations to the 3d theatre.

The project will be delivered in 1 phase, the existing construction areas are to be segregated throughout the duration of the works.

The remaining School areas will be open to pupils & staff throughout the duration of the works.
