description
Defra procuring on behalf of the Marine Management Organisation (MMO). The MMO have a web-GIS and desktop GIS capability which allows MMO to disseminate data and evidence internally (and in some cases externally) to support decision making by MMO operational functions. MMO has a long standing requirement to make electronic navigational charts available to users of these systems, however this has not been possible due to technical limitations of the existing systems, and a lack of availability of electronic navigational charts in an appropriate format (e.g. such as a seamless or nested Web Mapping Service).
The Contractor (Find Mapping Ltd) has developed web based services which shall allow the MMO to efficiently and cost effectively deliver electronic navigational charts data to either a user desktop or to a client server for onward distribution (e.g. Marine SPIRIT).
