description
Personal Health Budgets (PHBs) provide flexibility and offer greater personal choice and control in meeting an individual's health and support needs.
Those eligible for a PHB who opt to take a Direct Payment may choose to employ Personal Assistants (PAs). A PA's role will vary according to the needs, lifestyle requirements and choices of each person they support.
When a PA is providing care and support to someone with healthcare needs, an important component of their role can include carrying out tasks that are of a clinical nature.
These tasks must be considered in the care planning process and be delegated to the PA by a registered practitioner who has the relevant occupational competence.
Coventry and Rugby Clinical Commissioning Group, Warwickshire North Clinical Commissioning Group and South Warwickshire Clinical Commissioning Group are seeking to engage with local, regional and national providers who are interested in offering non clinical and clinical training, competence assessment and clinical supervision services to PAs, as reflected in a persons defined care/support plan.
The work would need to be delivered in locations within Coventry and Warwickshire by appropriately qualified and competent practitioners with experience in delivering learning and development provision, an awareness of PHBs and the personalisation agenda and experience of working with PAs who work independently in the community.
An example of the range of training needs is detailed in the attachment included within this notice and includes:
- Non-clinical
- Clinical
- Complex clinical
