Provision of Intellectual Property (IP) Management Services for the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA)

APHA conducts a large amount of publicly-funded applied research which generates valuable intellectual property (IP) that needs to be protected and exploited. In many cases the IP can be licensed to 3rd parties on a commercial basis to generate income. There are four strands to the work:

• a)Identification of 3rd parties to which we can licence the IP.
• b)Negotiation of licences and the drafting of licences.
• c)Assistance with the negotiation of inward licences when a Defra funded research project needs the use of IP owned by other organisations.
• d)Working with APHA scientists to identify suitable IP for protection and exploitation.

The consultant will provide up to 52 days of IP consultancy during 2015/16.
