description

The Technical Support Contractor (TSC) is required to provide technical support to ONR during the close-out phase of GDA. The contract will be to:

review the WEC responses, to TQ-1290, for the Pressuriser Sizing locations and updated calculations provided in GDA Step 4 (2011), providing comments on their adequacy, with consideration of assumptions and approximations, in particular, their validity, scope, and compliance with ASME III design criteria;
review the WEC responses, to TQ-1290, for the RPV Sizing locations provided in GDA Step 4 (2011), providing comments on their adequacy, with consideration of assumptions and approximations, in particular, their validity, scope, and compliance with ASME III design criteria;
review the WEC responses, to TQ-1290, to comments on the FE approach for the detailed and transient analysis for the RPV inlet and outlet nozzles provided in GDA Step 4 (2011), providing comments on their adequacy, including validity of the models, input data, and assumptions and compliance with ASME III design criteria;
review a sample of the design calculations presented in the updated reports (see Table 1) for the main structural components (which may include locations in the RPV, PZR and SG) providing comments on their adequacy, assumptions and approximations, in particular, their validity, scope, and compliance with ASME III design criteria:
Provide written reports covering the work above, with appropriate explanation and justification for the comments, along with an appropriate hierarchy of their significance for ONR’s consideration.
Provide support to ONR in technical meetings with the RP. These meetings will be either ‘face to face’ in the UK (Liverpool or Chorley) or by video conference (v/c) at the ONR Office in Liverpool. The number of meetings will depend on the progress of the reviews, but for planning purposes a 1 day ‘face to face’ meeting and 4 off ½ day v/c meetings should be assumed.

For the purposes of clarity references to ASMI III design criteria (including updated calculations) in the context of this work should be read as the 1998 edition of the ASME III Code and 2000 Addenda.
