Eastern Sports Hub Sports Field & Construction Haul Road Outline Scope
The Eastern Sports Hub is a dedicated sports facility and is located south of the Northstowe Secondary College. Archaeology works have been completed within the Eastern Sports Hub area and the remaining elements of strategic enabling, engineering and landscape works are now required to be delivered, in order to complete the sports field within the Eastern Sports Hub area. The works relating to sports field comprise of the following:
Establishing haulage transportation routes between Northstowe Phase 2 and Phase 3A.
Contractor site set up, storage and compound provisions.
Earthworks transportation of existing former Phase 2 archaeological topsoil stockpiles and deposition at the Eastern Sports Hub.
Bulk Earthworks to transform former archaeological investigative trenches to a permanent earthworks strategic engineering level.
Sports pitch drainage with outfall connections to existing adjacent surface water drainage swales.
Landscaping sensitive to the Eastern Sports Hub performance criteria to achieve the following;

1nr Cricket Pitch
1nr Cricket Nets
1nr Outdoor Gym
1nr BMX Track
Associated landscaping provisions, including trees, shrubs and hedgerows.
Associated Sport Hub car parking
The Eastern sports hub building is not included within these works and is intended to be completed by South Cambridgeshire District Council.
Haul Road Upgrade Scope
The works are envisaged to comprise of utilising an existing military concrete road and providing a surfacing layer over the existing haul road, as well as forming new haul roads to serve future developments and links and crossings with the permanent highways. Surfacing details for the existing haul road upgrade and new haul roads are being designed by Arcadis Consulting (UK) Limited, comprising of typical pavement construction details. New haul roads are expected to require localised earthworks and land raising prior to constructing the road pavement.
