SUBJECT TO FUNDING

Mass Spectrometer Essential requirements:

1-200 AMU range
Instrument PC controlled via rs232/Ethernet/USB or other physical cable connection (i.e. not wifi)
Triple filtered single quadrupole
Sub ppm resolution across all analytes of interest - to be supplied with ITT
Corrosion resistant internals - HCl is the particular corrosion problem but SO2, Cl2 and Phosgene are also problems for stainless steel. Hastelloy or similar alloy materials will be needed for exposed components.
Multi stream valve inlet to allow 3 or more inlets
Fast response, heated quartz inert capillary sample inlet - sufficient to display 'real time' detection
Heated transfer line(s) - up to 200 degrees to avoid condensation of vapours. For DMMP, we need to avoid condensation and run "cleaning/flushing" to clear contamination of the sample line.
PC software that can automatically output quantifiable results
PC software that can allow full calibration and easy data interpretation - generation of standard curves from calibrated gas samples e.g. Ethylene Oxide from which quantification of unknown samples can be made.
License for software to be installed on at least 3 different PCs (to cover the 3 Mass specs)
UK based, In-house engineering support with next day call out
Mass spectral database software to automatically identify unknown chemicals
In-house customisation options to fit our needs - what capability has the supplier got to provide and support modified off the shelf items e.g. corrosion-resistant sample accessories?
Not exceed 80x80x80cm in size
Manufacturer suppled onsite training on delivery and set up of equipment at Dstl Porton Down

Desirable requirements

1-300 AMU range
Detection of low ppm to high percentage concentrations of analytes in < 100 ms
≤5 ppb resolution for most analytes of interest
Automated spectral analysis to give peak identification and composition analysis
Manufacturer to provide on-site training package for a minimum of two Dstl staff upon installation of equipment
Networkable comms to allow monitoring outside of lab (possibility to run equipment on virtual machines over network)
Communications protocols which allow integration with other automated equipment in lab via Azeotech DAQ Factory
Multi year support contract (>3 <5 years as part of the quote)
Custom built trolley to allow MS to be sited under fume cupboards
License for software to be installed on at least 6 different PCs (to cover the 3 Mass specs and 3 virtual networked machines)
