Refurbishment of the Boundary Walls to St Mary's Church yard, Banbury

The work involves the dismantling and reconstruction of a stone wall that forms part of the boundary to the church yard bridging the roots of a mature horse chestnut tree. This project also includes the refurbishment to a stone and brick section of wall on the south side of the church yard against which is a medieval effigy that must be protected against any damage. This section of wall also forms a retaining wall over a car park with the refurbishment work necessary on both sides of it. Contractors specialised in the refurbishment of church property are requested to make formal bids to undertake the work and provide references or previous projects of this nature. St Mary's Church is located within the local Conservation area for Banbury so great care must be operated at all times when working on the site, that is open to the public at all times. The car park is split into 2 sections run by individual car park operators with whom access will have to be agreed upon the award of the contract. Approval must be sought from the Diocese of Oxford for the protection of the medieval effigy and Cherwell District Council for the Arboricultural Method Statement prior to any contract award therefore this documentation must be included with any tender submission. Any tenders submitted must be in plain envelopes using the enclosed tender label with no distinguishing marks of the tenderer on the outside of the envelope.

Additional information: Tenders must be returned in plain envelopes using the attached label and must be accompanied with:

Method Statement for the protection of the medieval effigy;

Arboricultural Method Statement in accordance with BS:5837: 2012 (together with details of how the root bridge will be covered);

Contract Questionnaire;

A Certificate that the Tenderer has not engaged in Collusive Tendering;

A Certificate that the Tenderer has not canvassed any Member or Officer of the Council;

Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the different aspects of this project including details of what space is required to undertake the works on the car park side of the boundary wall.

All documents must be returned by NOON on Friday 17th March 2017.
