description

Health Education England (HEE - the Commissioner) are putting out this notice as a PIN (Prior Information Not. The case for direct award can be found on the tender portal. ice) with a view to completing a Direct Award.

Please note the contracting authority intends to direct award the contract to National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

Deliverables

The specific deliverables of the award are summarised below.

  • To initiate and run an AHP Researcher Summit, bringing together key individuals representing a range of stakeholders to consider initiatives aimed at boosting research culture and impact from across the under-represented AHP disciplines (for example, facilitating mentorship by more experienced to less research-mature professional disciplines and clinical specialities).

To determine and support the fast tracking of the actions which are specific to under-represented AHP communities and applying the relevant learning from other professions.

  • To support the planned NIHR AHP 'think tank' activity (which will hold a different title) which will run alongside the NIHR's nursing work to support the onwards development and implementation of the emerging AHP Summit to work together on developing a plan to influence whole systems change.

Rationale for selection of supplier

HEE believes that it is highly unlikely for any other supplier to be able to provide the expertise provided by the NIHR as a supplier for the following reasons:

Has a national remit to support NHS workforce research development and learning
The NIHR was created in April 2006 under the government's health research strategy, Best Research for Best Health.
The NIHR has supported a number of initiatives for underrepresented groups, including health professions, to identify barriers and enablers to becoming research active.
Recognises the diversity of the workforce and engages with all sectors of the NHS community which means they can assure wide representation in the working group including people with black and ethnic minority backgrounds.

The financial envelope for the contract is £50,000
