description
NHS England currently fund a significant amount of the Primary Care clinical waste budget i.e. Waste produced by Pharmacies and GPs, such as drug waste. The current delivery model is fragmented given that NHS England inherited numerous contracts as part of PCT and SHA transition. NHS England is now looking to establish a national framework agreement for the collection of clinical waste from GP surgeries and community pharmacies throughout England. The intention is to consolidate the existing fragmented delivery model, which consists of approximately 100 local agreements funded by NHS England, to be delivered through this framework.
The framework will be split into 4 regional lots in line with the NHS England regional boundaries: http://www.england.nhs.uk/about/regional-area-teams/
The intention is to award a place on the framework to between 3 and 5 suppliers on each Lot.
The contract opportunity will welcome innovative proposals that will maximise the qualitative benefits of the new framework in particular linked to end user education, improved waste segregation, sustainability and potentially influencing drug waste reduction.
The exact timeline is not yet established but NHS England intend to complete the contract award process by October 2015.
NHS England wishes to gauge the level of interest from organisations who can and are interested in providing these clinical waste services. We would therefore like all interested suppliers to register their interest via the NHSBSA's eSourcing portal.
Instructions for registering are as follows:
- a)Register your company on the eSourcing portal (this is only required once)
- b)Browse to the eSourcing Portal: https://nhsbsa.bravosolution.co.uk
- c)Select the ‘Click here to register link’.
- d)Accept the terms and conditions and select ‘continue’.
- e)Enter your correct business and user details.
- f)Note the username you chose and select ‘save’ when complete.
- g)You will shortly receive an email with your unique password (please keep this secure).
Express an Interest in the tender:
- a)Login to the portal with the username/password.
- b)Select the ‘Open Access PQQs’ link. (These are PQQs open to any registered supplier).
- c)Click on the Clinical Waste PQQ (it should be noted that this is NOT the actual PQQ stage of the procurement. It is a preliminary stage to gauge interest. The system limitations mean that the label states ‘PQQ' but the opportunity is not yet live. You will be notified when the tender goes live).
- d)Select the ‘Express Interest’ button in the ‘Actions’ box on the left-hand side of the page.
- e)This will move the PQQ into your ‘My PQQs’ page. (This is a secure area reserved for your projects only).
- f)You have now registered your interest and will be notified of any future stages.
Estimated cost excluding VAT: 80 000 000 GBP
