description

Within the Whitehall estate the former Attorney General’s office, 36 Whitehall has become vacant. The building sits within the heart of the government Whitehall estate so, for many reasons, it would not be prudent to dispose of the building on the open market. A professional team have been commissioned, via the overall Authority service providers, to work up a scheme of refurbishment to enhance the offices so making them a high quality office. Planning and Listed building consent to the proposals have been obtained. The resulting construction project was tendered in 2014 but no contract award made.

The Authority needs to find a solution for 36 Whitehall so as to bring this Listed building back into effective long term use. While CO has the funds approved for the refurbishment if an alternative approach can be found not involving the capital investment that has many attractions. Legal advice is needed in anticipation of agreeing terms which will require documentation.
