description

The scheme involves removing Temple Circus roundabout and replacing it with a four arm signal junction with Victoria Street, Friary, Temple Way and Temple Gate. A new single carriageway link road will be provided between Temple Gate and Temple Way. A left turn slip road will be provided from Temple Way into Friary, while the exit from Friary will be realigned to the new signal junction.

Redcliffe Way eastbound will be diverted away from the existing Temple Circus roundabout with a new alignment parallel to the existing westbound alignment and forming a widened two way junction with Temple Gate. Redcliff Mead Lane junction will be altered to provide an exit only from Chatterton Square onto Redcliffe Way and unification of Redcliff Mead Lane entry and exit lanes.

Improved Non-Motorised User facilities throughout, namely the continuation of the segregated cycleway / footway route from Portwall Lane to the future Brunel Mile extension towards the City Centre; a single stage signal controlled crossing of Temple Gate; signal controlled crossings provided throughout and new crossing facilities provided on Station Approach.

Amendments to the existing bus lanes with sections provided on Temple Gate northbound, Redcliffe Way eastbound and from Victoria Street to Temple Way, as well as the relocation of bus stops. Widening of the footway adjacent to the Temple Gate outbound carriageway where the bus stop is to be improved to accommodate the current bus stop outside the Engine Shed building which is being removed.

Realignment of the kerbing and traffic islands of Bath Bridges roundabout with a segregated cycle way being constructed on the existing footpath adjacent to Fowlers Motorcycle Dealership and new signals being provided on the Bath Bridges Gyratory.
