description
To develop an Assistive Technology Service for vulnerable residents across Rutland. The aim is to provide technological responses to vulnerable people, supporting independence and wellbeing in their own homes, reducing the need for admissions to hospital and residential care, and reducing the level of domiciliary support required.
This will be a fully managed service covering all aspects of the Assistive Technology provision in Rutland, from initial assessment of the needs of the individual, provision and installation of necessary equipment, a comprehensive telecare monitoring service, maintenance of equipment, through to removal/disposal of equipment. This is not simply a supply and fit contract.
Typical clients will be people at risk of falls and those with long term conditions including dementia. It will also cover people with a physical disability, learning disability, mental health issues, autism, children with disabilities and carers. Typical equipment may include: personal alarms, pressure mats, falls detectors, movement sensors, gas/smoke/temperature detectors, medication prompters, pagers, etc.
The three year contract may be extended by up to three periods, each of one year, giving a maximum contract period of six years. The volume of activity is forecast to grow over the term of the contract.
Additional information: This service is intended to be a complete and self-contained service for the residents of this small authority, and for that reason a single contractor is required and the tender is not divided into lots.
