Herefordshire Council is pursuing long-term initiatives aimed at reducing the levels of phosphorous finding route-pathways into the Rivers Lugg and Wye, a Special Area of Conservation in the north of the county. A key element of this is an aspiration to address point-source pollution by creating a series of wetlands to act as tertiary treatment to effluent from waste water treatment works.
