1123 Replacement of HV Equipment in Clephan Sub Station at De Montfort University Leicester

De Montfort University seeks to engage a suitably qualified and experienced Contractor to Replace HV transformer and associated HV switchgear located in Clephan Building Sub-station on its Leicester Campus.

De Montfort University (DMU) own and are responsible for an 11KV Electrical ring circuit that feeds 6 main buildings on campus: Clephan, Hawthorn, Hugh Aston, Vijay Patel, Kimberlin Library and Portland.

The works detailed relate to the sub-station located at the top of Richmond Street. Currently, the 11KV ring main unit is approaching 50 years of age with parts now unavailable and the transformer at nearly 40 years old has reached its 'end of life' as recommended for this type of plant. Both these items place a high risk of failure on the HV network and if this fails it will take down 6 of the largest student populated buildings on campus.
