description
Ofcom is undertaking a piece of work to investigate the different options that are available to us (including, but not limited to, in-carriage scanners and crowdsourcing) to help us and the Government better understand mobile coverage and performance across the UK rail network.
The aim of this exercise is to elicit input from suppliers that will allow us to understand and evaluate the different options available to us and make decisions on potential future work. Ultimately, Ofcom is interested in gathering information that is of a sufficient quality and reliability that it could provide a potential foundation for policy makers to robustly understand the current extent and quality of coverage along the national rail network, including in-carriage. We're also keen to understand how this can be reported to consumers.
