Installation of a New Combined Heating Power (CHP) System with Mini District Heating at the Beecroft Gallery and Central Museum, Southend on Sea

Southend Borough Council requires a contractor to design, equip and install a 500kW Combined CHP System incorporating a mini district heating network. This is to be a showcase project delivering green heat into two of Southend’s iconic buildings.

The works will include:

1. A single CHP system to be located within the existing plant room located on the roof of the gallery.
2. Approximately 150 meters of pre-insulated twin piping run in a trench to supply the Central museum.
3. Equipping the system with all required heat exchangers, control valves, heat meters, pumps, remote meter reading etc.
4. Full visualisation package for public awareness fed into remote display screens and web site.
5. All civil works and access is to be included within the tender.
6. Registrations and certifications to be provided.

Comprehensive drawings and a specification will be issued to contractors who express an interest and the works will be carried out under a JCT Contract. The tenders will be considered against an evaluation ratio of 80% for price and 20% for quality.

The proposed commencement date of this project is early February and the works must be commissioned and RHI registered by 30th March 2016.
