Commission for Economic Expertise to Attract Private Finance to Nature Based Projects

Cornwall Council has been awarded funding from DEFRA as part of the Local Investment in Natural Capital (LINC) programme to:

Build the capacity, effective governance arrangements and capability of local leaders and partner organisations in the arena of private investment in natural capital markets.

Develop local ecosystem markets and investment vehicles that support the generation of nature-related revenue flows

Explore and demonstrate the potential for natural capital investment

Our approach will build on the current status on a number of relevant projects such as Cornwall Council's NEIRF funded Habitat Bank Feasibility Study, other green finance initiatives in the southwest and LNP Investment Programme activities.

We have identified that commencement of a number of the work packages will require access to specialist advice and expertise to ensure our direction of travel remains appropriate to our local context and will ultimately result in tools, mechanisms and processes that are fit for purpose and will add value to our county's efforts to catalyse private investment in the environment.

Cornwall Council is seeking specialist advice and expertise to guide our approach to this project, specifically centred around a number of key work packages.
