description

3.1Additive Manufacture (AdM) contains several sub-sets of capability, one of which is 3D printing. It is a potentially disruptive technology which is catching the attention of the Defence sector due to the versatility it offers. It provides a capability to produce bespoke or specialised products, on demand, close to the point of use. This innovative technology is therefore a potential game changer, especially in the arena of Logistic, Equipment and Medical Support and Deployed Infrastructure. It is essential that the Army develops its understanding of the costs, risks, benefits, capabilities and opportunities that AdM presents.
3.2To exploit this, and using 'Prototype Warfare', the Army's lead officer on AdM will place deployable containers into the hands of the Field Army, to identify, design and engineer spare parts and tooling for use at the point of need.
