description

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EDMR) is a psychotherapy training intervention to support patients who have experienced traumatic stress disorders. NICE recommends that all people with Post Traumatic Syndrome Disorder should be offered a course of trauma-focused psychological treatment (trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy [CBT] or eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing [EMDR]). These treatments should normally be provided on an individual outpatient basis.

Each year Health Education England working across the North supports currently delivery of a small volume of training, usually for about 60 participants across the North. There has though been substantial demand for support from service organisations across the North of England this year which has not been met. Currently there are approximately 130 practitioners who have requested EDMR training and who we anticipate would meet the required minimum criteria for undertaking such training.

Therefore, given this strong demand and as part of our commitment to support the development of the mental healthcare workforce HEE is making more investment available to commission more training capacity and delivery by the end of the current financial year. We anticipate that most participants will require all 3 parts of an accredited EDMR programme, although some may only wish and seek to attend specific parts of the programme.

Consequently, HEE is seeking expressions of interest from interested provider(s) to deliver EDMR training to meet the identified additional demand. PLEASE NOTE: ALL COMMUNICATIONS THROUGH THE PORTAL (Due-north ProContract)
