description
The Integrated Commissioning Department of the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea (RBKC) and Westminster City Council (WCC) have appointed Westway CT Trading to deliver a Community Transport Service.
The over-arching aim of this service is to allow vulnerable older people to participate in their local community through flexible transport options, to give residents leisure opportunities they would not otherwise have and to help them with necessary tasks, such as shopping. These tasks help to tackle social isolation in the bi-borough and, this being one of the strategic objectives of both councils.
The intention was to carry out a tendering exercise, however following the pandemic commissioners priorities were re directed to ensure that vulnerable resident's in RBKC and WCC continued to receive the support and services of a newly adapted flexible bus/transport service in order to meet the challenging travel requirements of residents during the pandemic.
The Contract will be for an initial period of 18 months, with the option to extend for a further 6 month period. During this term services a will be redesigned following changes caused by the pandemic,. A full market engagement will take place to allow us to communicate our needs and requirements to potential suppliers and to ensure that we stimulate innovation and flexibility into the design and delivery of the service going forward.
