description
The National Maritime Museum (NMM) is developing a temporary photographic exhibition for its New Insights Gallery and seeks specialist image production and framing services for c.75 works.
All assets are held digitally and require printing and framing according to the attached schedule in the tender information.
This 2D only show is scheduled to open on Friday 20th November 2020.
The maximum value of this contract is £15K.
Background to and current status of project:
The NMM is working with 6 photographers to produce an exhibition of contemporary maritime themes. Each photographer works in their chosen field, e.g. oil rig worker, scientist, and most are currently working at sea.
The core exhibition project team working on this project are all in-house, comprising Project Manager, Curator, 3D Designer and 2D Designer. We are currently progressing from Developed to Technical Design and will be appointing the Main Build Contract in early September.
We are looking to appoint this contract, for image production and framing, week beginning 17th August, to kick-off this same week (please see procurement programme and project programme as part of this RFQ).
A selection of images has been made for each photographer, along with type and size of frame - please see attached elevations/layouts as a guide for pricing. The NMM will receive the image files via digital transfer and we are currently working with the photographers to determine file specifications and sizes - these communications are ongoing as we publish this RFQ.
We have included in this RFQ a guide for pricing, detailing the number and types of frame, as well as image size. We would like you to price against this, but please note that it is changeable. An important part of the work of this contract will be consulting with our in-house 2D and 3D designers for testing and manipulation of images to see what is achievable within the frame size with the files we have to work with. Please allow a certain number of hours for this within the production timeline. We will also need to go through an approvals process of the images for sign-off prior to printing.
PLEASE NOTE: we will ONLY be qualifying suppliers who:
-Show proven project experience, ideally with temporary exhibitions in the Museum/Gallery sector, over the last three years comparable to the proposed assignment
-Demonstrate clear understanding of and approach to the Project Brief
- Are able to meet the deliverables and deadlines as outlined in the RFQ documentation
Please see RFQ brief for full details and requirements.
Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
