The Supply and Operation of a Big Wheel with Rotating Gondolas 2018

Bournemouth Borough Council is looking for the supply and operation of a Big Wheel with rotating gondolas on the seafronts Pier Approach between 30th March 2018 and 6th January 2019 with the option to extend the contract annually for a further two years.

For the purpose of this contract Bournemouth Borough Council's Seafront Services will be seeking an experienced, exciting and forward thinking contractor for the supply and operation of a Big Wheel on Pier Approach. The Wheel will become part of the fabric of Pier Approach providing the perfect backdrop for local events and getting involved with community.

Over the past year a Big Wheel has been in operation on Pier Approach and has been well received by the public. The award of this contract seeks to build on that success and provide an attraction for people of all different ages and backgrounds. It will increase visitor numbers who can enjoy panoramic views of Bournemouth and Poole which enhances the offer on the Seafront. The Wheel has become part of the fabric of Pier Approach providing the perfect backdrop for local events and getting involved with the community

The Big Wheel must be no smaller than 32 metres in height and cannot exceed 40 metres in height. The maximum footprint of the wheel must not exceed 25 square metres. Weight loadings and dimensions of the wheel must be submitted with this tender.

The Big wheel has attracted approximately over 100,000 visitors in a 5 month period in 2017. Instructions to Suppliers:
